Wrinkle Reduction/Relaxation treatment: Botulinum Cosmetic Therapy

Over a million people have been safely treated with various brands of Botulinum Toxin A. At MBNS we treat about 30 patients a week, requesting relaxation of frown lines and crow’s feet.  Botulinum Toxin is used for the temporary reduction of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows.

These purified proteins have been used in clinical practice for more than 10 years and consequently these medicines are used at the MBNS Clinic. Treatment is simple and effective. Within 10 minutes and after a few tiny injections, there’s a noticeable improvement that can be seen within a few days. There’s no recovery or downtime. You can even receive Botulinum Toxin treatments in your lunch break! Results last from three to six months.

What is Botulinum Toxin A?

This prescribed medicine contains a specially prepared naturally occurring protein that originates from bacteria. It should only be injected by an experienced injector who can make sure that the correct amount is injected in precisely the right places. In this way the desired result with a natural look can be achieved. It works by blocking the nerve impulses, which reduces the movement of the muscles, that cause wrinkles. With less movement, the skin surface gradually smoothes out, and the frown lines between your brows begin to fade.

What is the treatment like? Where can I have it done?

At MBNS, you will receive your consultation and treatment by experienced aesthetic nurse specialists. Before your first treatment you will have to be assessed and if appropriate, have your Botulinum Toxin prescribed by our prescribing nurse. You can be reassured that the nurse specialists at MBNS are some of the most experienced and sought after cosmetic injector-practitioners in the country.

How soon will I see a difference? What kind of results can I expect?

You can expect to see results within 2-14 days after your treatment. Frown lines will look more relaxed and softened. We aim to provide natural looking treatments. Visible results can last from three to six months. After that, you may be ready to return for a follow-up maintenance treatment. With repeated treatments, performed before the full effect has worn off, most people will find that results will last longer over time. Duration of results will depend on your facial expressions.

How soon will I need a second treatment? What happens if I decide not to continue?

Treatments in the first year tend to last three to four months. MBNS will be able to offer you your next appointment before you leave in order to ensure that you are able to keep the appearance you want. If you decide not to continue with Botulinum Toxin treatment, the area between your brows will eventually go back to its pre-treatment appearance.

Botulinum Toxin A is approved in the UK for the treatment of several medical conditions including hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating),  please ask us for further information.

Christine’s Story

This patient is a full time mum and in her consultation asked if we could reduce (in her words) her “gummy smile”. This was something which had concerned her for many years, but she was noticing it more often in recent photographs and this was causing her to feel self conscious when she smiled.

We agreed a treatment plan of using small doses of BOTOX® prescribed injections to reduce the levitator muscle action at the outer base of the nose which will in turn reduce the upper lip from hyper contracting and lifting.

This patient also enquired as to if we could correct her natural asymmetry to her smile, where her right upper lip lifted more than her left. This was achieved by increasing the dose to her right levitator muscle.

Two weeks later a follow up appointment was made as is normal practice. The result was a natural symmetrical smile, that revealed less of the gums and increased her confidence.

Becky’s Story

Becky works as a clinic co-ordinator and is a busy single mum. She wanted to look less ‘frowny’ and have fewer forehead lines, however she wanted to retain the ability to naturally raise her eye brows. This case study shows what discrete Botox looks like. Our nurses understand that the ‘frozen look’ is not wanted by many people nowadays. Becky is delighted.

I went with a friend to another clinic who was having Botox. I decided on the spur of the moment to have Botox also. I went ahead but had to go back to the person as I was not happy with the treatment, it was uneven I had one raised brow, and so after being retreated, the unevenness was made even worse. I just could not go back there again.

I did know of MBNS, but had originally decided not to go there as I thought their pricing was more expensive than other places. However after Marea corrected the peak in my brow and made it look perfect again, I now realise that you should not cut costs where your face is concerned. I now know that MBNS have five highly experienced nurses with over 15 years experience and a great reputation.

If you are investing in treatments for your face, you should not be swayed by cheap prices and risk having a less than perfect result. I will be coming back for my next treatment in 12 weeks knowing that I am in safe hands.

I have always been nervous of needles but the heavy brow and slighty “aged” look I had recently noticed in the mirror made me take a my first brave step to MBNS.

I had heard from a friend that they were extremely professional and discreet (a bonus when you live in a small town) and got great results!
I had my consultation with Paula who seemed to understand what I wanted to achieve without the “botox brow” and was also sympathetic to my fear of needles. Paula put me at ease and talked through the whole procedure as she did it....without using words such as needle or pain! She managed to divert my attention, taught me to wiggle my toes at the right moment and even made me laugh!
Three years on, I’m still nervous of needles but I still pop in for a top up when needed and Paula still manages to make me laugh and best of all....i’m looking great!
