If you exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet but still have stubborn areas of fat read on.
MBNS Clinic in Thame, Oxfordshire is now offering fat dissolving injections with Aqualyx.
Sometimes stubborn fat pads will not disappear with normal exercise and diet. This type of fat can be due to our genetic inheritance. The human body naturally stores fat in order to supply energy in times of scarce food supplies. Fat cells in the subcutaneous fat tissue are difficult to reduce as only their contents and overall volume can be altered but not the fat cells themselves. Even with diet restriction these particular fat cells are not easily reduced and these reserves continuously serve as a reliable deposit for the body to store fat. Nowadays, a simple injection treatment of Aqualyx can help reduce these stubborn areas of fat.
What is Aqualyx and how does it work?
Aqualyx is a water solution that is injected into stubborn fat areas around the body. The formula liquefies the fat cell which is then eliminated naturally when you urinate over a three-week period. It contains plant polymers, which binds with the cell walls of the fat tissue before rupturing and releasing the fat to be dissolved.
Aqualyx contains a naturally occurring component which our liver’s produce, this component is manufactured in a pharmaceutical environment. It’s fat dissolving effect has been utilised in cosmetic surgery and aesthetic medicine since about 2006.
The treatment itself is performed by our advanced nurse practitioner who has 18 years of performing skilled cosmetic-injection treatments. The injection liquid substance brings about the fat dissolving effects.
Which areas of the body can be treated with Aqualyx?
Used for dissolving fat deposits Aqualyx can be administered to fat on the hips, saddlebags, thighs, stomach, knees, back fat and under the chin.
How many treatments are required with Aqualyx?
The amount of treatments varies from patient to patient. Other factors include:the dimensions of the fat deposit and the individuals’ reactions of the fat tissue. On average you will have to expect around 3 to 6 appointments with 4 to 12 weekly intervals until you can actually perceive the results.
A TREATMENT WITH AQUALYX DOES NOT RESULT IN WEIGHT LOSS. A healthy diet as well as an exercise regimen are an absolute necessity to ensure success of this treatment.
How is the treatment with Aqualyx conducted?
Using fine and flexible needles Aqualyx is injected directly into the subcutaneous fat tissue. The actual treatment is comfortable as fat tissue is almost free of sensation and Aqualyx contains an additional local anaesthetic solution. After the treatment the affected area may redden and swell to some degree. As with any treatment with a needle minor bruising and swelling develops. All these are expected side-effects that abate within a couple of days after the treatment.
What should I pay attention to and expect after a treatment with Aqualyx?
Do not apply any cosmetics onto the treated area within a 12 hour period and avoid all direct sources of heat and radiation for example sunlight, UV radiation, sauna etc for one week. Furthermore you should abstain from physical exercise for seven days although you should be able to go about your normal routine of working and socialising. For example if you have a treatment under the chin you will look somewhat swollen for 7 to 14 days, which may be more obvious than swelling from the back which will be underneath your clothes.
As the released fatty acids are converted into additional energy it is especially important that you keep a healthy diet otherwise your body will simply store the fat in an alternative fat deposit. (This means do not over eat).
We advise all our patients to wear a pressure garment for 14 days post treatment. This can be a specialised garment such as a post liposuction garment available from the internet or something like Spanx Shapewear if you already have them. This can improve post-treatment comfort as well as the result.

- People with unrealistic expectations
- People with acute or chronic skin disease in the affected areas
- People with a medical history including anaphylactic reactions or severe allergies
- People with severe organic or physical illness, autoimmune disease or diabetes
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
