Dermal Filler Treatment at MBNS using Juvederm Ultra

Here at MBNS and Qutis Clinics we find that there is no better way to tell others about what we do than our own patients doing it for us!

A dermal filler called Juvederm Ultra was used

Post procedure, she wanted to tell everyone just how happy she is with the results.

Here is a short video from a patient of ours, who decided to have  dermal filler treatment recently at MBNS Clinic in Thame, Oxfordshire.

Post procedure, she wanted to tell everyone just how happy she is with the results. Our nurse Marea used a dermal filler called Juvederm Ultra.  It contains an anesthetic and so the procedure is comfortable and quick, and the results are so natural.  There’s  no magic in this video, no soft lighting, and no make up – just the facts!

If you would like to make an appointment for a consultation with one of our specialist nurses, please call MBNS on 01844 213007 or their sister clinic Qutis Witney on 01993 704050.

We provide treatments for wrinkle reduction, dermal fillers, IPL permanent hair removal and mole and skin tag removal to name a few.  Our award winning specialist nurses have been treating for over 17 years in the Oxfordshire area.

All about Rosacea

April 29th, 2014

Renee-Zellweger-profile-Shankbone-2010-NYC

A ‘Blushing’ Rene Zellwegger

Rosacea is being talked about in the press quite a bit lately, actually highlighting that April is Rosacea month.  Many A-List celebrities are speaking openly about their sensitive skin that looks sore, red and flushed even when they are not exercising or blushing!

Cynthia Nixon (of Sex in the City fame), Cameron Diaz and Rene Zellweger are all self professed Rosacea sufferers.

Rosacea is treated at MBNS and Qutis Clinics on a daily basis.  It is a two pronged approach:  a course of IPL Photorejuvenation coupled with iS Clinical Pro Heal Serum and SPF 50.

Also keeping the triggers of Rosacea at bay help with keeping the skin condition calmer.  Flare ups can be the result of exposure to sunlight (hot and cold weather), hot drinks and spicy foods to name a few.

Our specialist nurses at MBNS and Qutis treat Rosacea with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment.  This light energy targets the flushed areas on the face thus delivering energy which calms the skin and reduces the redness and soreness. The heat from the light damages the dilated red veins, shrinking them so they can no longer be seen, while at the same time causing minimal scarring or damage to the surrounding tissue.  Several treatments are required at 4-6 week intervals.   iS Clinical’s Pro Heal Serum also reduces the inflammation and the SPF 50 acts as a barrier to the elements.  We also have our prescribing nurses in clinic who may also prescribe a specialised anti-inflammatory for further reduction of Rosacea.

If you would like to make a consultation with one of our specialist nurses regarding Rosacea treatments, or any of the other treatments offered at MBNS including permanent hair removal, dermal fillers or wrinkle treatments, call us on 01844 213007 for MBNS and 01933 704050 for Qutis, and we will get back to you quickly.

Don’t hide away with Rosacea – our nurses are here to help you!

IPL permanent hair removal at MBNS and Qutis Clinics

February 26th, 2014

Here at MBNS Clinic in Thame, and Qutis Clinics, we have been helping clients get rid of their unwanted hair for over  many years with IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Permanent Hair Removal.  The treatment is very straightforward and liberating for those who thought that they would have to shave or wax for the rest of their lives!

In order to be a successful candidate for IPL Permanent Hair Removal you have to adhere to the following:

1.  No active suntan – that includes fake tan such as Fake Bake or sunbed use.  This is because the light that removes the hair at the follicle is attracted to the pigment in the hair,  but if you have a tan, it will see the whole area as pigment, and you may experience a burn.

2.  Avoid usage of St John’s Wort for a month before treatment.   This homeopathic anti-stress remedy can make you light sensitive, and again, you could burn.

Treatment for IPL is spaced six weeks apart if the hair being removed is on the face and twelve weeks apart if treatment is on the body.  This is the length of a complete hair cycle.

Here below is a video of the treatment itself by one of our nurses – it is quick, easy and effective.  You really can say goodbye to unwanted hair for good.

If you would like to find out more about IPL Permanent Hair Removal or any of the other treatments offered at MBNS (01844 213007), Qutis Clinic Witney (01993 704050), or Qutis Clinic Abingdon (01235 533772), kindly call now on  to book a consultation with one of our specialist nurses, or fill out the contact form HERE and we will get back to you swiftly.  We look forward to welcoming you to our clinics.

Victoria Beckham has IPL Permanent Hair Removal

Victoria Beckham has IPL laser hair removal.

It has been reported in the Daily Mail online today that Victoria Beckham no longer shaves her legs and now has laser hair removal! Advised by her friend Eva Longoria, Mrs B now has smooth legs and wastes no more of her valuable time on daily shaving!

Well, we could have told her that years ago!  At MBNS Clinic in Thame, we have been treating clients for removal of unwanted hair for over 17 years now and the results are permanent and freeing!

Clients require several treatments (spaced 12 weeks apart on the body, or 6 weeks apart on the face, as that is the length of a complete hair cycle).  Once the hair has diminished, you are left with smooth, hassle free legs plus time to get on with other things such as launching your designer clothing label or running four miles a day, such as Victoria!

It is also great to see how clients help us do our job by referring our clinic to their friends, much as Eva advised Victoria about going to have IPL laser hair removal.  The best advertisement for us at MBNS is happy clients sharing their experiences with friends, resulting in them having a little ‘thank you” from us in the form of a £50 voucher to put towards their next treatment (after their friend has had their first treatment).

If you would like to find out more regarding IPL Permanent Hair Removal or any of the other treatments such as dermal fillers or maybe wrinkle reduction offered at MBNS Clinic in Thame by our specialist nurses, why not call us now on 01844 213007 or fill out the form HERE and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

The lowdown on dermal fillers and IPL Photorejuvenation

February 14th, 2014

We are often asked many questions in consultation here at MBNS Clinic in Thame  regarding dermal fillers.  Questions such as:

dermal fillers at MBNS Clinic“I’m wary of fillers, but my face is looking gaunt now I am in my late thirties. What advice do you have for a first-timer?”

Judging by the number of ‘pillow faces’ in the press, you’d be forgiven for thinking dermal fillers never looked natural. But the experienced nurses of MBNS say it is a question of less is more.  Our nurses are artistic and highly experienced and look at your face in an holistic way.  They can work out exactly what is going to suit your face and the correct dermal fillers to use.  It is nice to see a picture of the client from ten years ago, or taken in their early twenties. This allows the nurse to respect the natural contours of their face and work in a more bespoke way.

Whether they have had IPL or dermal fillers, or any other treatment we offer, every client who leaves MBNS is a walking advertisement for us

Our nurses ensure that every client has expectations that are managed realistically. Everyone who leaves MBNS is a walking advertisement for the clinic, that is why MBNS’ aim is to make their clients look their natural best whilst still looking like the same person, so the code by which to live by is definitely, LESS IS MORE.

Another area often discussed is IPL Photorejuvenation….

“I’ve heard mixed reports about IPL (Intense Pulsed Light Therapy)  Is it a good treatment or not?”

img-mediaIPL Photorejuvenation is a fantastic treatment for the removal of age spots (hyperpigmentation) and little veins around the nose with no downtime and effective results.  It is also popular as a ‘next step photo-facial’ to improve skin tone, boost collagen and minimise pores.  It really does keep the skin looking fresh and we hear is a favourite of the many of Hollywood’s actresses!   MBNS has five experienced nurses who perform the treatment regularly and safely.  In order to have safe, effective treatments, the skin must be free of any active tan, that includes fake tan or a dare I say, a sunbed tan!  Usually several treatments are required, 4 to 6 weeks apart for great results.

If you would like to make a consultation with one of our specialist nurses about any of the treatments offered at MBNS, please call us on 01844 213007 or fill out the form HERE and we will get back to you as soon as we can.  We look forward to helping you achieve your skin health goals gradually and naturally.

The lowdown on Botox and Lip Fillers at MBNS

February 12th, 2014

We here at MBNS Clinic in Thame have been helping our clients achieve their skin health goals for over 17 years and during the many consultations that have taken place before treatment, two of the same questions come up time after time to our team of nurse prescribers and specialist nurses.  The top two are always about Botox and Lip Fillers.

img-faceliftQ.   I would like to have a Botox treatment, how long does it last and how often can I be treated?

Here at MBNS we like to give what we call a “European look” with our wrinkle relaxing treatment.  To us, that means that although the areas have been treated with the medicine, you will not be left with a frozen look or ‘deer stuck in headlights’ look as is seen many times over in the USA.    A ‘full’ Botox treatment (that is three areas treated:  the crows feet, between the eyes and the forehead) will last 12 weeks or longer, and your nurse will advise you of the date when you may safely have another treatment.

For safety sake, and because Botox is a prescribed medicine (POM), you cannot be treated any sooner than 12 weeks apart.  You should be fully aware also that this and any injectable treatments should be performed only by a medical professional, and in MBNS’s case, an Aesthetic Nurse Specialist, of which we have five in our busy Thame Clinic.

img-threadVeinsQ.  I want fuller lips, but I don’t want to end up with a trout pout!

We err on the side of caution here at MBNS Clinic.  Our patients who want to have a lip enhancement are advised to have a lip hydrator such as Juvederm Volbella.  This fantastic treatment adds minimal volume to lips that have lost collagen due to ageing, so the shape of the lips is not changed, they just look softer and more youthful.  Gone are the days of the “trout pout” of yesteryear.  Again, this treatment is performed by one of our team of highly experienced Specialist Nurses.

This month of February, MBNS has a special offer on Juvederm Volbella.  Call us on 01844 213007 to find out more and book your consultation.  If you would prefer to send us an email, you can do so HERE and we will get back to as soon as we can.

We look forward to helping you look your natural best and achieve your skin health goals at MBNS.

The Danger of sunbeds

February 7th, 2014

A story was reported in the Daily Mail this week about a young woman, Anna Taylor, who had used a sunbed every day for three years and as a result,  developed a cancerous tumour which after being removed,  has left her scarred for life.  To read the full article, click HERE.

Anna Taylor - post operation to remove cancerous tumour on her face.

From the Daily Mail online

Although Anna had discontinued using sunbeds for over ten years, the damage had already been done, and at 33 she had to have an operation to remove the basal cell carcinoma in her cheek.

NEVER USE A SUNBED!

We here at MBNS Clinic in Thame are experts in keeping your skin healthy and safe from the damaging rays of the sun and UVA and UVB light that sunbeds produce.  Much has been written about the affect of sunbed UV light on the skin and there are more than 200,000 cases of this type of cancer a year in the UK.

We advocate use of a good SPF factor 50 along with iS Clinical’s antioxidant serums such as Pro Heal and Super Serum to protect and feed the skin.  We advise that you NEVER use a sunbed and when in the real sunshine, always use a good SPF a hat and sunglasses.  If you do want a tanned look, then use a fake tan product such as the FAKE BAKE range, you can get the healthy glow….safely!

Recently, the NHS has brought out a very striking poster showing exactly what damage a sunbed can do to the skin…see below – it is shocking!

If you would like to arrange a consultation with one of our nurse specialists regarding the health of your skin, why not ring us on 01844 213007 or fill out the form HERE and we will get back to you quickly.

MBNS Clinic in Thame offers many treatments for healthy skin such as wrinkle relaxantsdermal fillers, IPL Photorejuvenation (which helps to remove sun damaged skin!) and IPL Permanent hair reduction to name a few.  Our aim is to help you keep your skin healthy and look your natural best.

Ladies! – yes I said ‘ladies’… Say goodbye to Movember’s facial hair with permanent hair removal at MBNS.

November 21st, 2013

article-2487792-1934B72C00000578-49_306x423‘I have a moustache, I might as well raise some money with it!’: Woman who has to shave beard every day ditches razor for Movember

Source:  the Daily Mail – read full article HERE

  • Movember fundraiser Sarah O’Neill, 29, from Hull, has unwanted facial hair that used to embarrass her – and brother even called her Mac3, after the razor!
  • Now she wants to banish the myth that only men grow moustaches

Stop the press!  We can help here!….Surely women are not willing to put up with their facial hair?  We can understand people raising money for a great cause, but really!

This is a bit of a sensitive subject, (and one that many women do not like to admit to), but we have to face facts that many women do have facial hair and some even have to shave daily to remove it!  However, help is at hand!

At MBNS clinic in Thame we have a fantastic treatment called Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL).  This treatment uses light waves to remove hair permanently at the follicle in a few sessions spaced 6 weeks apart. You can finally say  “NO MORE” to plucking, shaving, waxing or in-grown hairs!

In order to have great results in permanent hair removal, you need to check the following guidelines:

1.  The hair needs to have some pigment (colour) to it so it can be seen by the light

2.  Your skin must be tan free and fake tan free

3.  You must stop taking St John’s Wort  a month prior to treatment ( it can make the skin sensitive to the light)

Most skin types are successful with IPL treatment and we treat body hair also.   These treatments ( such as underarm or bikini areas) are spaced 12 weeks apart. Here’s an interesting fact:

Did you know that an actual hair cycle on the face is 6 weeks and on the body it is 12 weeks?

Many may think that their hair grows quicker than that, as they seem to be plucking daily, but  IPL treatments kills the whole hair cycle. So once treated , the hair falls out over the next 2 to 10 days, then you are hair free until the next hair cycle starts.  The treatments are 6 weeks apart for the face and 12 weeks apart for the body, which means  you are getting to the root of the problem (pardon the pun) and the results are permanent!

So if you would like to find out more about permanent hair removal, kindly call us now on 01844 213007 or fill out the form HERE and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Unsightly facial hair can be a thing of the past – and our nurse specialists are here to help you today!  We do have  a few appointment spaces before Christmas left to fill, so start your New Year’s resolution early and let waxing and plucking  and even shaving be a thing of the past!
