Hairy armpits or IPL Permanent hair removal – it’s your choice!

March 28th, 2014

Madge hairy armpits

Madge may be ‘expressing herself’, but if you would like to Vogue another way, IPL Permanent hair removal is available at MBNS and Qutis Clinics!

Who’s that girl?  OK, it is a personal preference, but dear old Madge is at is again with a recent selfie posted (in the mail online) of her extremely hairy armpits!

Never one to shy away from controversy, she is putting it out there, that for her, hairy armpits are OK.

IPL Permanent hair removal is successful in removing hair permanently and safely.

Well, we find that many of our clients who come to visit us at MBNS and Qutis Clinics prefer to have their underarm hair removed permanently with IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment.

This light treatment passes over the hair and destroys it at the follicle.  The hair falls out naturally over the course of a few days.  The area will be hair free for many weeks, until the next cycle begins.  Treatments are spaced twelve weeks apart, as a hair cycle on the body is actually twelve weeks, and usually 6-8 treatments are needed to permanently eliminate the hair.

So if you do not want to go the route that dear Madonna is following, why not book a consultation with one of our specialist nurses who will be able answer your questions regarding permanent hair removal but also will be able to discuss other treatments we offer here at MBNS and Qutis Clinics including wrinkle treatments, dermal fillers, red veins and pigmentation, and general skin health.

Why not call us on 01844 213007 for MBNS and 01993 704050 for Qutis and we will get back to you quickly.  Alternatively if you  prefer to contact us via email, please click HERE for MBNS and HERE for Qutis.

IPL permanent hair removal at MBNS and Qutis Clinics

February 26th, 2014

Here at MBNS Clinic in Thame, and Qutis Clinics, we have been helping clients get rid of their unwanted hair for over  many years with IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Permanent Hair Removal.  The treatment is very straightforward and liberating for those who thought that they would have to shave or wax for the rest of their lives!

In order to be a successful candidate for IPL Permanent Hair Removal you have to adhere to the following:

1.  No active suntan – that includes fake tan such as Fake Bake or sunbed use.  This is because the light that removes the hair at the follicle is attracted to the pigment in the hair,  but if you have a tan, it will see the whole area as pigment, and you may experience a burn.

2.  Avoid usage of St John’s Wort for a month before treatment.   This homeopathic anti-stress remedy can make you light sensitive, and again, you could burn.

Treatment for IPL is spaced six weeks apart if the hair being removed is on the face and twelve weeks apart if treatment is on the body.  This is the length of a complete hair cycle.

Here below is a video of the treatment itself by one of our nurses – it is quick, easy and effective.  You really can say goodbye to unwanted hair for good.

If you would like to find out more about IPL Permanent Hair Removal or any of the other treatments offered at MBNS (01844 213007), Qutis Clinic Witney (01993 704050), or Qutis Clinic Abingdon (01235 533772), kindly call now on  to book a consultation with one of our specialist nurses, or fill out the contact form HERE and we will get back to you swiftly.  We look forward to welcoming you to our clinics.

The Danger of sunbeds

February 7th, 2014

A story was reported in the Daily Mail this week about a young woman, Anna Taylor, who had used a sunbed every day for three years and as a result,  developed a cancerous tumour which after being removed,  has left her scarred for life.  To read the full article, click HERE.

Anna Taylor - post operation to remove cancerous tumour on her face.

From the Daily Mail online

Although Anna had discontinued using sunbeds for over ten years, the damage had already been done, and at 33 she had to have an operation to remove the basal cell carcinoma in her cheek.

NEVER USE A SUNBED!

We here at MBNS Clinic in Thame are experts in keeping your skin healthy and safe from the damaging rays of the sun and UVA and UVB light that sunbeds produce.  Much has been written about the affect of sunbed UV light on the skin and there are more than 200,000 cases of this type of cancer a year in the UK.

We advocate use of a good SPF factor 50 along with iS Clinical’s antioxidant serums such as Pro Heal and Super Serum to protect and feed the skin.  We advise that you NEVER use a sunbed and when in the real sunshine, always use a good SPF a hat and sunglasses.  If you do want a tanned look, then use a fake tan product such as the FAKE BAKE range, you can get the healthy glow….safely!

Recently, the NHS has brought out a very striking poster showing exactly what damage a sunbed can do to the skin…see below – it is shocking!

If you would like to arrange a consultation with one of our nurse specialists regarding the health of your skin, why not ring us on 01844 213007 or fill out the form HERE and we will get back to you quickly.

MBNS Clinic in Thame offers many treatments for healthy skin such as wrinkle relaxantsdermal fillers, IPL Photorejuvenation (which helps to remove sun damaged skin!) and IPL Permanent hair reduction to name a few.  Our aim is to help you keep your skin healthy and look your natural best.

Facial hair removal with IPL treatment at MBNS

October 25th, 2013

img-mediaDid you know that 70% of women ‘manage’ their own facial hair removal?- by that I mean plucking and even shaving the area, sometimes daily!  Hairs seem to pop up out of nowhere and when spotted, are unceremoniously plucked, waxed and shaved only to be repeated the next day or so!   Well that ordeal can be a thing of the past.

We here at MBNS our nurse specialists have been treating patients for over seventeen years with Intense Pulsed Light treatment (IPL) for permanent hair removal.  A light passes over the hair which kills it at the root.  The hair follicles fall out after a few days and you are hair free for about six weeks as six weeks is the length of a hair cycle.   Treatments are six weeks apart on the face and you may need 6-8 treatments.  After all the hair has been permanently removed, you will be hair free and you will no longer have to pluck, wax or shave – now does that sound like music to your ears?

There are a few guidelines to having successful permanent hair removal treatment which are:

1.  You cannot  have an active suntan, used a sun bed or used fake tan in the last month.

Reason:   the light is attracted to the pigment in the hair, and if your skin has pigment then the whole area will be treated and you may receive a burn.

2.  If you take St John’s Wort,  it needs to be stopped for a month prior to treatment.

Reason:  this herbal medication can make the skin light sensitive and you may experience a burn.

3.  The hair must have some pigment to it.  On consultation the nurse will assess it.  Even if you think your hair is  blonde/grey , it may still have pigment and your treatment will be successful.

So now you are armed with the facts, why not give us a call on 01844 213007 to book a consultation with one of our specialist nurses or fill out the form HERE and we will get back to you as soon as possible.  Unsightly facial hair can be a thing of the past so what are you waiting for?

All about IPL and Laser Hair Removal at MBNS

March 20th, 2013

We here at MBNS are often asked about our fantastic IPL and Laser hair Removal treatment, so here are the 10 Frequently Asked Questions For IPL/ Laser Hair Removal

All about IPL and Laser Hair Removal

Q: What is the difference between IPL and laser?

A: The main difference between IPL and laser is how the light, heat, and energy is delivered; Laser delivers a direct energy, whereas IPL delivers a broad spectrum of light which is dispersed over a larger area. Both treatments are effective and will offer good results.

Q: Is the treatment painful?

A: The treatment is no more painful than waxing. MBNS strive for patient comfort and satisfaction at all times. During treatment your practitioner will endeavour to make you as comfortable as possible, we will apply a cool gel to the skin before treatment and have cold air blowing directly on the skin during treatment.

Q: Is it permanent?

Yes, once your treatment course is complete all the hair follicles that have been treated have been permanently killed and will not return. This is normally around 20% of the hair present and which is in growth phase at any one time. This is why a course of 6 treatments are recommended for the fullest removal.

Q: When can I have the treatment

The best time for a female to have treatment is just after her menstrual cycle; if recently waxed or plucked we would recommend waiting 2-3 weeks before your first IPL/ Laser treatment.

Q: I’m pregnant, I am still able to have treatment?

No. There have been no clinical studies to prove that Laser Hair Removal may have side effects to pregnant or breastfeeding women, however there have been no studies to say treatment is safe during pregnancy either. Because of this MBNS practices on the cautious side and does not treat pregnant or breastfeeding women. Patient safety is always our first concern.

Q: What do I do with my body hair between treatments?

We request that patients do not remove the hairs by the root between treatments, for example no waxing, plucking, or hair removal creams. Trimming or shaving is the best way to maintain your hair growth during your treatment cycle. Removing the hair follicle by the root during your treatment course will upset the hair growth cycle and could result in more treatments being required for complete removal.

Q: Does the treatment only work on dark, coarse hair?

Dark hairs are the most ideal hairs…As long as there is some pigmentation in the hair follicle, the laser hair removal will be successful. Our IPL & Laser Hair Removal machines accommodate for every skin type. During consultation your practitioner will confirm the exact results you can expect to achieve.

Q: Are there any health risks involved?

It is important to visit a clinic which is led by healthcare professionals with expert training and experience behind them.

Q: Can I have the treatment anytime?

The only guidelines for Laser Hair Removal are; you cannot have an active suntan or be wearing any fake tan. You cannot be currently taking any medication or herbal pills that cause photosensitivity (for example St. John’s Wart), and you cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding.

Q: How much will the treatment cost me?

Treatment prices vary depending on the area the patient wishes to have treated, MBNS  is competitively priced and we do offer discounts on treatment packages. We use the best Laser machines on the market which offer maximum results, the benefit of this is that fewer treatments will be required for complete hair removal.
