Facekini – the latest sun protection craze originating in China Source BBC News

You do know how we here at MBNS and Qutis Clinics continue to tell you about the dangers of sun exposure without a good sunscreen well it seems that the latest craze to hit the beaches of Qingdao in China takes this word of warning to the extreme!

Will the facekini catch on over here as a great answer to sunscreen?

SPF 50

Sunscreen UK style – Eclipse SPF 50 from iS Clinical

Introducing the ‘Facekini’ – it is exactly as it states, a bikini for the face to protect it from the sun’s harmful rays!  Women in China have been buying this accessory in their thousands but the comments have not always been that favourable.  Some have described the women looking like an invasion of bank robbers on the beach!

A good idea that may catch on?  Well we cannot take away from the fact that these women are definitely protecting their skin from the sun, however until we see the likes of these on the beaches of Bournemouth to Benidorm, we still advocate the use of a good sunscreen such as iS Clinical’s Eclipse Factor 50 as your optimal summer sunscreen accessory.

The Danger of sunbeds

February 7th, 2014

A story was reported in the Daily Mail this week about a young woman, Anna Taylor, who had used a sunbed every day for three years and as a result,  developed a cancerous tumour which after being removed,  has left her scarred for life.  To read the full article, click HERE.

Anna Taylor - post operation to remove cancerous tumour on her face.

From the Daily Mail online

Although Anna had discontinued using sunbeds for over ten years, the damage had already been done, and at 33 she had to have an operation to remove the basal cell carcinoma in her cheek.

We here at MBNS Clinic in Thame are experts in keeping your skin healthy and safe from the damaging rays of the sun and UVA and UVB light that sunbeds produce.  Much has been written about the affect of sunbed UV light on the skin and there are more than 200,000 cases of this type of cancer a year in the UK.

We advocate use of a good SPF factor 50 along with iS Clinical’s antioxidant serums such as Pro Heal and Super Serum to protect and feed the skin.  We advise that you NEVER use a sunbed and when in the real sunshine, always use a good SPF a hat and sunglasses.  If you do want a tanned look, then use a fake tan product such as the FAKE BAKE range, you can get the healthy glow….safely!

Recently, the NHS has brought out a very striking poster showing exactly what damage a sunbed can do to the skin…see below – it is shocking!

Dry skin? MBNS to the rescue!

October 15th, 2013

Hydra Cool

Hydra Cool Serum is available at the MBNS online shop in both 15ml and 30ml bottles.

Have you noticed that the season is changing?  The summer is well and truly on its way out,  and we have colder autumn days ahead of us!  So that means we are wrapping up more, aren’t we, exposing our skin to the elements and putting on the central heating?   All of this plays havoc to our skin; it begins to feel dry,  breakouts can happen and it loses its laxity.

We can treat your dry skin here at MBNS!

Lack of moisture and a change in seasons means that we have to step up our hydration of our skin, and the best way to do that is a three pronged approach:  A Fire and Ice Medical Facial, iS Clinical’s Hydra Cool Serum and iS Clinical’s moisturising SPF factor 50.

The Fire and Ice Facial really helps your skin adapt to the changes of the season by pouring moisture back into it by means of botanical potent serums including Hydra Cool, which is an anti acnaic moisturiser in a serum.  It really is the answer to dry flaky skin.  A sealant of SPF smoothed over the surface of the skin is the perfect solution so that the face is  protected from the damaging wind and rain – you see, an SPF is not only for sun protection, it is a moisturiser and skin protecter all in one!

MBNS has a special offer on the great Hydra Cool Serum this month -Usually priced at £41 for 15ml and £73 for 30ml, the prices for October are £30 and £60 respectively!   Visit our online shop by clicking here to get yours now.
