IPL Photorejuvenation is the best treatment for my skin!
I’ve been a part of MBNS and Qutis clinics for over 8 years now, and want to share with you my best kept secret for fantastic skin. Of course I use the whole range of iS Clinical products which feed, treat and protect my skin, but I believe the single best boost to the health of my skin is IPL Photorejuvention. This is the creme de la creme of facials targeting sun damage (pigmentation), red veins on the surface and penetrating deep into the dermis to produce more collagen, making my skin feel thicker, healthier and above all smoother.
I tend to have my treatment as the clocks begin to change in Spring and Autumn, as there will be little to no chance of any accidental sun exposure. The IPL light zeros in on my sun spots and removes them! The result for me is a peaches and cream complexion.
After treatment the skin has its down time (you look a little red and your skin feels a bit like you have sunburn!) and mother nature does her job underneath to heal it and generally the dermis becomes thicker leaving the skin looking and feeling much healthier.
So why don’t you book in for your IPL Photorejuvenation treatment? – Your skin will thank you for it!

Eurovision Winner Conchita – a candidate for IPL Hair Removal perhaps? PHOTO: mailonline
An article yesterday in the Daily Mail stated that if a person wants to eliminate facial hair, they should stop eating white bread!! You can read the full article HERE.
The article states “A diet low in white carbohydrates, such as white bread, can also help to reduce hair growth. This is because high glycaemic foods raise blood sugar, which in turn increases insulin levels. Raised insulin is responsible for the production of too many androgens”.
Our team of experienced nurses and aestheticians here at MBNS and Qutis Clinics remove unwanted hair PERMANENTLY with Intense Pulsed Light treatment (IPL)
It next goes to on to state in detail the various methods by which hair can be removed, but none of these treatments such as waxing and plucking are permanent! From Aesthetic Nurse Adrian Baker:
Aesthetic Nurse Adrian Baker treats at both MBNS and Qutis Clinics
Do you find as you are growing in years, that hairs just seem to be sprouting in all areas you don’t want it and losing it in the areas you do? Well there is little available to replace the hairs you are losing (apart from hair transplantation of course), but if the hairs you are growing and don’t want are bothering you, I have a permanent solution for you… IPL Laser hair reduction treatment. It can reduce hairs from spouting out the neck, upper cheeks, nose and ears ( I know I had one that my partner was constantly trying to pull out of my neck!), as well as dense hair areas on the back and chest.
For those who find shaving a chore or extremely painful, full beard laser hair removal is also available. Or do you suffer with in-growing hairs of the buttocks and legs? A treatment often recommended for males who suffer with pilonidal cysts (often caused by in-growing hairs) is laser hair removal to remove the root cause of the problem.
A course of treatments is usually recommended, and an experienced nurse will be able to advise you as to how many treatments you may require depending upon the area being treated.
If you would like to find out more about the many skin treatments and products we have at MBNS and Qutis Clinics, such as wrinkle treatments, IPL for the removal of sun damaged skin and fat dissolving injections, kindly call MBNS on 01844 213007 or Qutis on 01993 704050 and we will get back to you swiftly. At MBNS and Qutis clinics we see many patients with sun damage who are looking for a healthier skin, none more so than 56 year old Susie who came to see Aesthetic Nurse Paula Shurrock and was concerned about her excess pigmentation.
Susie disclosed that she had enjoyed a lifetime of foreign holidays, outdoor activities, and hiking long distances. She was horrified to realise during her consultation that the damage to her skin was as a result of her outdoor pursuits and her not using any sun protection on her skin.
Her new regime of wearing SPF 50 daily and wearing a hat is now second nature to her. One treatment of Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL) has reduced the damage (sun spots and freckles) by over 50%.
Photos below show before and after one treatment of IPL for sun damage

Susie is delighted with her fresh healthier skin, and will continue to see Paula at 4 week intervals until the pigmentatiion in her skin is restored to health.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment for the removal of sun damage and red veins.
Intense Pulsed Light treatment, also referred to as IPL, is a light treatment that targets red veins and sun damage to the skin. The process induces controlled wounds on the skin, by heating it up and so prompting it to heal itself by creating new cells and new collagen. This process reverses the effects of photoageing to a certain extent by removing wrinkles, sun spots, red veins and rosacea. The production of new collagen pushing to the surface of the skin also makes it look healthier and more youthful – we like to call it a photo facial.
We have been treating clients for many years here at MBNS and Qutis Clinics and over the years, we have seen many happy clients have dramatic changes to their skin resulting in a more positive outlook.
IPL Photorejuvenation removes sun damaged skin
There are a couple of contraindications to having IPL treatment. You cannot have an active suntan, have used sunbeds (you should never use sunbeds!) or fake tan like Fake Bake. These all change the pigment in the skin meaning that the whole area would heat up, not just the targeted area, and so you may experience a burn. It is best to wait until your tan has faded and make sure you use a good SPF 50 like iS Clinical’s Eclipse all year round.
Below is an article that was written by one such happy client for Essentials Magazine. She had some red (thread) veins that she wanted removed, and IPL Photorejuvenation was the perfect treatment for her.
If you would like to to find out more about the various skin treatments we offer at MBNS and Qutis Clinics, kindly call us MBNS on 01844 213007 or Qutis on 01993 704050 and we will get back to you quickly.

Madge may be ‘expressing herself’, but if you would like to Vogue another way, IPL Permanent hair removal is available at MBNS and Qutis Clinics!
Who’s that girl? OK, it is a personal preference, but dear old Madge is at is again with a recent selfie posted (in the mail online) of her extremely hairy armpits!
Never one to shy away from controversy, she is putting it out there, that for her, hairy armpits are OK.
IPL Permanent hair removal is successful in removing hair permanently and safely.
Well, we find that many of our clients who come to visit us at MBNS and Qutis Clinics prefer to have their underarm hair removed permanently with IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment.
This light treatment passes over the hair and destroys it at the follicle. The hair falls out naturally over the course of a few days. The area will be hair free for many weeks, until the next cycle begins. Treatments are spaced twelve weeks apart, as a hair cycle on the body is actually twelve weeks, and usually 6-8 treatments are needed to permanently eliminate the hair.
So if you do not want to go the route that dear Madonna is following, why not book a consultation with one of our specialist nurses who will be able answer your questions regarding permanent hair removal but also will be able to discuss other treatments we offer here at MBNS and Qutis Clinics including wrinkle treatments, dermal fillers, red veins and pigmentation, and general skin health.
Why not call us on 01844 213007 for MBNS and 01993 704050 for Qutis and we will get back to you quickly. Alternatively if you prefer to contact us via email, please click HERE for MBNS and HERE for Qutis.

Here at MBNS Clinic in Thame, and Qutis Clinics, we have been helping clients get rid of their unwanted hair for over many years with IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Permanent Hair Removal. The treatment is very straightforward and liberating for those who thought that they would have to shave or wax for the rest of their lives!
In order to be a successful candidate for IPL Permanent Hair Removal you have to adhere to the following:
1. No active suntan – that includes fake tan such as Fake Bake or sunbed use. This is because the light that removes the hair at the follicle is attracted to the pigment in the hair, but if you have a tan, it will see the whole area as pigment, and you may experience a burn.
2. Avoid usage of St John’s Wort for a month before treatment. This homeopathic anti-stress remedy can make you light sensitive, and again, you could burn.
Treatment for IPL is spaced six weeks apart if the hair being removed is on the face and twelve weeks apart if treatment is on the body. This is the length of a complete hair cycle.
Here below is a video of the treatment itself by one of our nurses – it is quick, easy and effective. You really can say goodbye to unwanted hair for good.
If you would like to find out more about IPL Permanent Hair Removal or any of the other treatments offered at MBNS (01844 213007), Qutis Clinic Witney (01993 704050), or Qutis Clinic Abingdon (01235 533772), kindly call now on to book a consultation with one of our specialist nurses, or fill out the contact form HERE and we will get back to you swiftly. We look forward to welcoming you to our clinics.

We are often asked many questions in consultation here at MBNS Clinic in Thame regarding dermal fillers. Questions such as:
“I’m wary of fillers, but my face is looking gaunt now I am in my late thirties. What advice do you have for a first-timer?”
Judging by the number of ‘pillow faces’ in the press, you’d be forgiven for thinking dermal fillers never looked natural. But the experienced nurses of MBNS say it is a question of less is more. Our nurses are artistic and highly experienced and look at your face in an holistic way. They can work out exactly what is going to suit your face and the correct dermal fillers to use. It is nice to see a picture of the client from ten years ago, or taken in their early twenties. This allows the nurse to respect the natural contours of their face and work in a more bespoke way.
Whether they have had IPL or dermal fillers, or any other treatment we offer, every client who leaves MBNS is a walking advertisement for us
Our nurses ensure that every client has expectations that are managed realistically. Everyone who leaves MBNS is a walking advertisement for the clinic, that is why MBNS’ aim is to make their clients look their natural best whilst still looking like the same person, so the code by which to live by is definitely, LESS IS MORE.
Another area often discussed is IPL Photorejuvenation….
“I’ve heard mixed reports about IPL (Intense Pulsed Light Therapy) Is it a good treatment or not?”
IPL Photorejuvenation is a fantastic treatment for the removal of age spots (hyperpigmentation) and little veins around the nose with no downtime and effective results. It is also popular as a ‘next step photo-facial’ to improve skin tone, boost collagen and minimise pores. It really does keep the skin looking fresh and we hear is a favourite of the many of Hollywood’s actresses! MBNS has five experienced nurses who perform the treatment regularly and safely. In order to have safe, effective treatments, the skin must be free of any active tan, that includes fake tan or a dare I say, a sunbed tan! Usually several treatments are required, 4 to 6 weeks apart for great results.
If you would like to make a consultation with one of our specialist nurses about any of the treatments offered at MBNS, please call us on 01844 213007 or fill out the form HERE and we will get back to you as soon as we can. We look forward to helping you achieve your skin health goals gradually and naturally.

A story was reported in the Daily Mail this week about a young woman, Anna Taylor, who had used a sunbed every day for three years and as a result, developed a cancerous tumour which after being removed, has left her scarred for life. To read the full article, click HERE.
From the Daily Mail online
Although Anna had discontinued using sunbeds for over ten years, the damage had already been done, and at 33 she had to have an operation to remove the basal cell carcinoma in her cheek.
NEVER USE A SUNBED!
We here at MBNS Clinic in Thame are experts in keeping your skin healthy and safe from the damaging rays of the sun and UVA and UVB light that sunbeds produce. Much has been written about the affect of sunbed UV light on the skin and there are more than 200,000 cases of this type of cancer a year in the UK.
We advocate use of a good SPF factor 50 along with iS Clinical’s antioxidant serums such as Pro Heal and Super Serum to protect and feed the skin. We advise that you NEVER use a sunbed and when in the real sunshine, always use a good SPF a hat and sunglasses. If you do want a tanned look, then use a fake tan product such as the FAKE BAKE range, you can get the healthy glow….safely!
Recently, the NHS has brought out a very striking poster showing exactly what damage a sunbed can do to the skin…see below – it is shocking!
If you would like to arrange a consultation with one of our nurse specialists regarding the health of your skin, why not ring us on 01844 213007 or fill out the form HERE and we will get back to you quickly.
MBNS Clinic in Thame offers many treatments for healthy skin such as wrinkle relaxants, dermal fillers, IPL Photorejuvenation (which helps to remove sun damaged skin!) and IPL Permanent hair reduction to name a few. Our aim is to help you keep your skin healthy and look your natural best.

‘I have a moustache, I might as well raise some money with it!’: Woman who has to shave beard every day ditches razor for Movember
Source: the Daily Mail – read full article HERE
- Movember fundraiser Sarah O’Neill, 29, from Hull, has unwanted facial hair that used to embarrass her – and brother even called her Mac3, after the razor!
- Now she wants to banish the myth that only men grow moustaches
Stop the press! We can help here!….Surely women are not willing to put up with their facial hair? We can understand people raising money for a great cause, but really!
This is a bit of a sensitive subject, (and one that many women do not like to admit to), but we have to face facts that many women do have facial hair and some even have to shave daily to remove it! However, help is at hand!
At MBNS clinic in Thame we have a fantastic treatment called Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL). This treatment uses light waves to remove hair permanently at the follicle in a few sessions spaced 6 weeks apart. You can finally say “NO MORE” to plucking, shaving, waxing or in-grown hairs!
In order to have great results in permanent hair removal, you need to check the following guidelines:
1. The hair needs to have some pigment (colour) to it so it can be seen by the light
2. Your skin must be tan free and fake tan free
3. You must stop taking St John’s Wort a month prior to treatment ( it can make the skin sensitive to the light)
Most skin types are successful with IPL treatment and we treat body hair also. These treatments ( such as underarm or bikini areas) are spaced 12 weeks apart. Here’s an interesting fact:
Did you know that an actual hair cycle on the face is 6 weeks and on the body it is 12 weeks?
Many may think that their hair grows quicker than that, as they seem to be plucking daily, but IPL treatments kills the whole hair cycle. So once treated , the hair falls out over the next 2 to 10 days, then you are hair free until the next hair cycle starts. The treatments are 6 weeks apart for the face and 12 weeks apart for the body, which means you are getting to the root of the problem (pardon the pun) and the results are permanent!
So if you would like to find out more about permanent hair removal, kindly call us now on 01844 213007 or fill out the form HERE and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Unsightly facial hair can be a thing of the past – and our nurse specialists are here to help you today! We do have a few appointment spaces before Christmas left to fill, so start your New Year’s resolution early and let waxing and plucking and even shaving be a thing of the past!
