Put your hands up for filler and IPL!

January 30th, 2015

MBNS-Hands-Poster (1)We here at MBNS and Qutis Clinics have been helping our clients look their natural best for many years now.   From wrinkle relaxant to skin resurfacing, we  cover all areas of skin health.

There is an area, however that can sometimes be a little further down on the treatment plan list that our nurse practitioners go through diligently at consultation, and that is the subject of hands.

Our hands lose their volume as we age, and sun or liver spots as they are sometimes called, along with more prominent veins appear giving that tell tale sign that the hand is ageing.

But if  you will pardon the pun – help is at hand!  We use a two pronged approach to helping the hands look and feel more rejuvenated with a dermal filler and IPL.  The dermal filler gives the hands more volume, so reducing the appearance of the veins, and the IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) targets the sun/liver spots, giving the hands a more youthful appearance.

This month our clinics are offering a very special promotion for hands: Dermal filler plus IPL skin rejuvenation.  These treatments are  normally priced together at £600, but for the month of February, this fantastic combination is only £400 – a saving of £200!

So put your hands up If you are feeling that you maybe have neglected your  handfs and now is the time to take advantage of this great offer!   Why not book a consultation with one of our specialist nurses to see if this great combination is just what you are looking for?…

The MBNS and Qutis clinic nurses are experienced professionals in helping you achieve your skin health goals.  If you would like to find out more about the many skin treatments and products we have available such as wrinkle treatmentsIPL for the removal of sun damaged skin and fat dissolving injections, kindly call MBNS on 01844 213007 or Qutis on 01993 704050 and we will get back to you swiftly. Skincare for men with iS Clinical

January 27th, 2015

Console-Rapture-Shaving-ManSkincare was traditionally catered to women with little, or no consideration given to men.  Until recently, men themselves did not pay much attention to their skin.  However, that is no longer true.   We here at MBNS and Qutis clinics are seeing a growing number of male patients who come to see us for various skin care treatments.

A man’s skin has its own unique attributes and needs.  Men produce more sebum and are more likely to develop acne; men have larger pores, men shave (although the act of shaving exfoliates the skin, it also is very abrasive and potentially damaging, leaving the skin rough and sometimes dry.)  Many men have existing skin damage caused by neglect and exposure to the elements.

Recommended products geared specifically for men’s skincare should include formulas that hydrate and soothe, while preserving skin’s healthy appearance.

Our specialist nurse practitioners recommend the following:

iS Clinical’s Cleansing Complex which removes deep debris related to increased sebum production and pore size.  It prepares the skin for other iS Clinical treatment products.  it mildly resurfaces and encourages collagen production.

Eclipse SPF 50 Low res packshot 150dpi

Eclipse Factor 50 SPF perfect hydrator and protector for the male skin

Active Serum – This serum encourages exfoliation and helps treat acne and hyperpigmentation.  It improces skin tone and evens complexion.

Hydra Cool Serum.  This hydrator soothes inflamed skin and is perfect for use post shaving as it reduces irritation and is antimicrobial.

Eclipse SPF factor 50.  This treatment sunscreen protects against UVA and UVB rays and reduces inflammation.  It helps heal environmentally compromised skin.

Microneedling or IPL?

January 23rd, 2015

microneedle-roller-equipmentBoth IPL and microneedling treat pigmentation and improve minor scarring. When you have a skin problem,  we here at MBNS and Qutis Clinics have many solutions for you, and if you cannot have IPL or radio frequency (eMatrix) for any reason there is always Microneedling.

How does Microneedling work?

As each fine needle needle punctures the skin,  it creates a channel or microscopic wound. This ‘controlled injury’ triggers the body to fill these microscopic wounds by producing new collagen and elastin in the dermis.  In addition new capillaries are formed.  These new capillaries and this new collagen following the treatment,  leads to reduction of scars and skin rejuvenation.

In other words, there is a an improved texture firmness and hydration with microneedling.

Microneedling can also improve and fade pigmentation, and so if for any reason you cannot have intense pulsed light (IPL) to fade sun damage then you have an alternative: and it is called Microneedling!

If you would like to find out more about the many skin treatments and products we have at MBNS and Qutis Clinics, such as wrinkle treatmentsIPL for the removal of sun damaged skin and fat dissolving injections, kindly call MBNS on 01844 213007 or Qutis on 01993 704050 and we will get back to you swiftly. Focus on acne

Acne skincare 3 001

Before and After shot acne patient using iS Clinical products

Acne is a skin disease evidenced by clogged pores (blackheads and whiteheads), pimples, and larger cysts or nodules occurring mainly on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and upper arm area.

Many factors including genetics, stress, hormones, environment, heavy and or oily make up and diet all play roles.  I addition, over abrasive cleansing can in fact harm the skin and spread infection.

Eighty-five percent of all teenagers may be affected by acne and many suffer from this condition well into adulthood.

Although not life threatening, acne may cause discomfort, psychological stress and permanent scarring.

Our experienced nurse practitioners here  at MBNS and Qutis Clinics help treat acne by offering a skin resurfacing treatment that we call eMatrix.  This great treatment using radio waves penetrates deep into the dermis to help repair the acne scarring by producing new collagen to the surface making the skin look and feel more smooth.  We also advocate the use of the iS Clinical line of products specifically:

Hydra Cool

All products including Hydra Cool are available at the MBNS online shop – click on image

Cleansing Complex which gently resurfaces and removes dead skin cells and helps soothe the symptoms of acne.

Active Serum which as well as reducing  the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles also diminishes the appearance of acne.

Hydra Cool Serum which hydrates, clams and soothes irritated skin along with reducing the appearance of mild acneic symptoms.  It also offers antioxidant protection.

Get your legs ready for summer with Sclerotherapy

January 16th, 2015

sclerotherapy-patient-3Yes, I have just started a post with the word ‘summer’ in the title!  It is the 16th of January  for goodness sake I hear you cry! Well let me explain.  The days are drawing out and before we know it, spring then summer will be on the doorstep.   So the weather is warming up and you’ll be getting your shorts out only to scream out loud: “No!  I can’t wear these! – I’ve got these unsightly thread veins on my legs!”

Well help is at hand!  If you plan ahead, you can take the time during the winter months to have some Sclerotherapy treatments.  This treatment, performed routinely by our experienced nurse practitioners is a simple effective treatment.  The veins are injected with a solution called a sclerosant which damages the internal lining of the vein and causes blood clotting within the vein.  In time, your own body will then destroy the vein and it will disappear.

You need two to three treatments spaced 8 weeks apart, so you see, the timing is perfect, you will be ready to show your legs to the world by summer.

So why don’t you book a consultation with one of our specialist nurses?  They will be able to best advise you if sclerotherapy is the correct treatment for you.

Focus on hyperpigmentation (red veins and sun damage)

January 13th, 2015

Hyperpigmentation – melasma

Hyperpigmentation is a common condition in which patches of skin grow darker in colour than normal surrounding skin.  It may be caused by sun damage, inflammation, hormonal changes or skin injuries (including acne).  It can be found anywhere on the body and can affect the skin colour of any race.

Super Serum

Super serum is perfect in treating hyperpigmentation – available at the MBNS online shop – click image to take you there!

Age spots (sometimes called liver spots) are a common form of hyperpigmentation caused by sun damage.  Melasma is another form of hyperpigmentation.  Pregnancy for example can trigger overproduction of melanin that causes the ‘mask of pregnancy’ on the face and darkened skin on the abdomen and other areas.

We here at MBNS and Qutis clinics tackle hyperpigmentation using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)  therapy and specific products from the iS Clinical line.   IPL  is considered a non-ablative resurfacing technique, which means that it targets the lower layers of skin (dermis) without affecting the top layers of skin (epidermis). The advantage of IPL therapy is its minimal downtime – a patient can often have the procedure done in their lunch break and return to work immediately afterwards.

The best products that go hand in hand with IPL  photorejuvenation are Cleansing Complex (use AM and PM), Super Serum (AM)  which diminishes the appearance of hyperpigmentation, hypertrophic scar tissue and even fine stretch marks .  Active Serum is a stand alone product for night time and Eclipse SPF 50 which acts as moisturiser and sun block all in one to be used in the daytime.

Focus on Rosacea Treatment

January 9th, 2015

Rosacea skincare kitRosacea is a widespread but often misunderstood condition that is estimated to affect more than 45 million people worldwide.  Rosacea is related to hyper-responsivness of the blood vessels in the central face giving the face a flushed look.  Triggers can include alcohol, spicy foods and sun exposure.  Symptoms of rosacea include facial flushing progressing to persistent redness of the cheeks, nose and forehead; stinging or burning of the face; and red bumps or pimples in the central facial skin.

Our experienced nurse practitioners at MBNS and Qutis Clinics see many patients with rosacea and they use  a two pronged approach to treatment:  skin rejuvenation (IPL) and specific products from the iS Clinical range.

IPL photo rejuvenation targets the rosacea by providing a controlled light heat energy into the epidermis reducing the vascularity therefore the patient  experiences a decrease on the visible redness on the surface of the skin.  The best products from the iS Clinical line that go hand in with rosacea treatment are:

Cleansing Complex – which deep cleanses the skin and pores without drying and gently resurfaces and removes dead skin cells.

The full iS Clinical line is available at the MBNS online shop. Click on image to be taken there now!

This year I promise to help my skin by:

1.  Taking my make up off EVERY night without fail

We here at MBNS and Qutis Clinics recommend that you use the fantastic Cleansing Complex from iS Clinical.  Botanically based with a gentle glycolic, this cleanser keeps the skin blemish free and glowing.

2.  Feeding my skin with antioxidants and vitamins

3.  Drinking plenty of water

We recommend that you drink at least 6 glasses of water each day to flush out any toxins and keep your skin hydrated and clear.

4.  Addressing the sun damage I incurred last summer when I wasn’t wearing a high enough SPF!

IPL Photorejuvenation is the way to go to eliminate those sun spots and freckles.  We are all guilty of sometimes not wearing a proper SPF factor 50 on the face (and body for that matter).  iS Clinical’s Eclipse is the perfect sunscreen and moisturiser all in one.  A ‘must’ for your morning regime.
