Hairy armpits or IPL Permanent hair removal – it’s your choice!

March 28th, 2014

Madge hairy armpits

Madge may be ‘expressing herself’, but if you would like to Vogue another way, IPL Permanent hair removal is available at MBNS and Qutis Clinics!

Who’s that girl?  OK, it is a personal preference, but dear old Madge is at is again with a recent selfie posted (in the mail online) of her extremely hairy armpits!

Never one to shy away from controversy, she is putting it out there, that for her, hairy armpits are OK.

IPL Permanent hair removal is successful in removing hair permanently and safely.

Well, we find that many of our clients who come to visit us at MBNS and Qutis Clinics prefer to have their underarm hair removed permanently with IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment.

This light treatment passes over the hair and destroys it at the follicle.  The hair falls out naturally over the course of a few days.  The area will be hair free for many weeks, until the next cycle begins.  Treatments are spaced twelve weeks apart, as a hair cycle on the body is actually twelve weeks, and usually 6-8 treatments are needed to permanently eliminate the hair.

So if you do not want to go the route that dear Madonna is following, why not book a consultation with one of our specialist nurses who will be able answer your questions regarding permanent hair removal but also will be able to discuss other treatments we offer here at MBNS and Qutis Clinics including wrinkle treatments, dermal fillers, red veins and pigmentation, and general skin health.

Why not call us on 01844 213007 for MBNS and 01993 704050 for Qutis and we will get back to you quickly.  Alternatively if you  prefer to contact us via email, please click HERE for MBNS and HERE for Qutis.

Adrian Baker WINS BJN Aesthetic Nurse of the Year!

Adrian Baker RN NIP wins BJN’s Aesthetic Nurse of the Year March 2014

We’ve only gone and done it again!  Adrian Baker RN NIP has won the British Journal of Nursing’s Aesthetic Nurse of the Year. This is a great achievement for Adrian who really has fast forwarded his career in a soaring fashion to achieve this great accolade.

Adrian, who qualified six years ago, became an independent nurse in 2011 and commenced on his stratospheric career rise!  He went straight into training to be an Aesthetic Nurse Specialist and also has gone on to study for his Independent Nurse Prescribing Qualification, joining an elite 12% of UK nurses.

He was co-author of the new RCN aesthetic nursing competencies (2013), helping raise standards, education and development for nurses in aesthetic medicine. It is hoped that this document will also be used in creating an accredited national educational programme for new nurses entering aesthetic medicine. This is all the more pertinent in light of the recent findings of the cosmetic report from Sir Bruce Keogh. The ‘Keogh’ report advised that educational programmes were key to ensuring patient safety and standards.

MBNS and Qutis Clinics are doubly proud of this achievement as last year the award was won by our own Marea Brennan Thorns, RN NIP MSc so we are two for two!

The award ceremony in its second year took place at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre on the South Bank, London on Friday evening where Dr Phil Hammond, famous GP and comedian /commentator on health issues, presented the award.

Cost effective treatments to improve your skin’s health

March 21st, 2014

We are often asked about pricing at our clinics in Thame and Witney.  Of course we are all price conscious today, and every client wants to know what they are getting for their money.

Well at MBNS Clinic and Qutis Clinics you are in the safe hands of highly experienced nurses who every day help our many clients achieve their skin health goals.

Our payment plans are becoming increasingly popular as they are INTEREST FREE.  This means that you can break down your treatment cost into 12 manageable payments.

As an example, let’s take a figure – say £500.  This would work out to £41.66 per month for treatment.

What type of treatment can you expect for this amount?

Dermal filler treatment is available at MBNS/Qutis

1.  Dermal Fillers are fantastic for rejuvenating the face and adding subtle volume to cheeks and lips.  This in turn helps diminish the nose to mouth lines that become more prevalent as we age and the skin becomes less taut.    It is quite amazing what a treatment will do to give a fresher look.

2.  Wrinkle treatments also are available.  The area between the eyes, into the forehead and the crows feet can be treated leaving a much smoother and relaxed look.  We do like to stress here that we are an experienced European clinic.  We expect all our clients to leave our clinics looking refreshed and that means to us, looking their natural best.  Our aim is for friends to say, “You look well, have you been away?’ NOT “What HAVE you had done” Subtlety is our middle name!

IPL Permanent Hair Reduction is available at MBNS and Qutis Clinics

3.  Permanent Hair Removal:  you could have several treatments getting rid of unwanted facial or body hair that you may have put up with for years!   Once the hair is destroyed at the follicle by the Intense Pulsed Light, the next hair cycle produces less and less hair each time, until you are smooth and hair free.

4.  Removal of red facial veins and pigmentation (brown spots, sometimes called liver spots):  Again, you could have several treatments that help to remove sun damaged skin and red veins.  A simple light treatment targets the area and also blasts into the dermis of the skin thus producing new collagen –    some call this a ‘photo facial’.

These are just a few of the many treatments offered at MBNS and Qutis Clinics six days a week.  We have over 80 hours of appointment times available.  If you would like to book a consultation with one of our specialist nurses kindly call MBNS Clinic on 01844 213 007 or Qutis Witney on 01993 704 050 and we will get back to you swiftly.  If you would prefer to make contact via email, please fill out the form HERE for MBNS and HERE for Qutis Witney.

We look forward to helping your achieve your skin health goals!

Don’t cut corners when you clean your face!

Use a good bioglycolic cleanser for your skin daily

An article written in the Mail Online recently suggested the use of facial wipes for removing make up should be avoided – and we here at MBNS and Qutis Clinics agree!

Although facial wipes are convenient and becoming increasingly popular, they can also actually do real harm to your skin.  They contain alcohol and when that is rubbed on the face it can cause dryness and even outbreaks resulting in a spotty complexion.  Skin under the delicate area of the eye can be dragged down and can look puffy and wrinkled also.  People who suffer from eczema or rosacea should definitely avoid using facial wipes and this can exacerbate the condition.

The Jan Marini and iS Clinical Cleansing Complex are both easy to use and extremely effective

We here at MBNS and Qutis look after our clients skin on a daily basis, and our nurses know best how to guide and advise on good skin health. We recommend that for cleansing the skin you should use a good glycolic cleanser such as iS Clinical’s Cleansing Complex or Jan Marini’s Bioglycolic Cleanser.  Both are extremely easy to use:  simply massage a 5p size amount into face and rinse off with a warm face cloth and warm water.  For the treatment of rosacea we advise also the use of iS Clinical’s Pro Heal Serum, this anti inflammatory serum is packed full of antioxidants that work deep into the skin reducing the redness.

The moral to the story is that if you want to keep your skin healthy for many years, you should think about investing in a good cleanser which is no less convenient than a facial wipe!

If you would like to find out more about how MBNS and Qutis Witney can keep your skin looking its natural best, kindly call MBNS on 01844 213007 or Qutis on 01993 704050 and one of our specialist team will get back to you quickly.  If you would prefer to make contact via email, click HERE for MBNS and HERE for Qutis Witney.

Throw away those facial wipes and invest in some decent cleaner – your skin will thank you!

Don’t give your brushes the brush off!

March 14th, 2014

Do you get attached to your make up brushes?  Do they go everywhere with you in your make up bag? Have you neglected them?   Do you forget to wash them?  Serious questions for a Friday don’t you think?

Well here at MBNS and Qutis Clinics we are all about looking after your skin naturally, that is why we advocate the use of good, pure, crushed minerals to apply post, and in between, your treatments.   Whether you are using ID Bare Minerals or Youngblood, both need to be applied with a good CLEAN make up brush.

We advise that you should clean your brushes regularly  using ID Bare Minerals Brush Cleaner, and then every six months use baby shampoo.  Ensure that you reshape and air dry them after cleaning, this will prevent them looking like the picture below!

These brushes need replacing!

These brushes need replacing!

As these brushes are used directly on the face, and then carried around with us, they can be exposed to dust and dirt.  Think of that before you use a ‘not so clean’ brush – this could be the cause of a spotty outbreak to your face!

Why not come down to MBNS Clinic in Thame or Qutis Clinic in Witney for a FREE make up consultation?    You will be shown how to apply the minerals and how to look after your brushes as well.

If you would like to find out more about the treatments and services offered at MBNS and Qutis Clinics such as Wrinkle Reduction, Laser Hair Removal,  and Dermal Fillers to name a few, kindly call MBNS on 01844 213007 or Qutis on 01993 704050.    Saturdays are usually a good day for demonstrations, so why not give us a call to book yours today!

If you would prefer to contact us by email please do so here: MBNS Contact Form  or Qutis Contact Form.

We look forward to welcoming you to our clinics.

Post treatment bruising? – We’ve got it covered!

March 11th, 2014

The nurse team here at MBNS and Qutis Clinics look after our clients’ skin by keeping it healthy in a variety of ways.  We are in the business of skin rejuvenation and so there are occasions when our specialist nurses have to get underneath the surface of the skin in order to get the desired results.

A few examples of this are:  Treating with dermal fillers or a wrinkle relaxant or  even light treatments where the face is heated such as eMatrix for skin resurfacing, skin tightening or IPL Photorejuvenation (for the removal of sun spots and red veins).

If bruising does occur, we are at the rescue,  armed with good tips and products to camouflage the skin while it repairs and rejuvenates.

The unfortunate downside of this is that there is the possibility of some bruising or redness that can occur post treatment.   When this does occur, we are at the rescue,  armed with good tips and products to camouflage the skin while it repairs and rejuvenates.

Bear in mind also that there are a couple of things you can do before having treatments that can help the unfortunate bruise not be as apparent or even there at all.  Our nurses suggest that forty eight hours prior to treatment, do not drink any alcoholic beverages or take any ibuprofen.  Both of these can make your blood a little thinner, and some bruising may occur.

Having said that, here are our tips on helping you disguise the ‘treatment bruise’.

1.  Smooth on a good primer  – we like Youngblood’s Mineral Primer (Youngblood line available at Qutis Clinics) and also Bare Minerals Prime Time Primer for a smooth start.

2.  Next mix some iS Clinical’s Hydra Cool serum with Lycogel camouflage make up.  Both Hydra Cool Serum and Lycogel have anti inflammatory properties which calm and soothe the skin.  This combination of products easily glides over the skin evenly covering up the bruised area and blending in with the rest of the face.

4. Then brush over some mineral make up.  We like both Youngblood and Bare Minerals Foundations in a variety of shades as both are 100% crushed minerals that contain zinc which also has healing properties.

5. Finally finish with YoungBlood Hi-Definition Perfecting Powder or Bare Minerals Mineral Veil.

4 steps to keeping your skin healthy!

March 5th, 2014

We here at MBNS Clinic in Thame have been looking after our clients’ skin for over seventeen years.  Our nurse specialists consult and treat patients daily advising them on good skin health.  There is a theme that runs through each consultation, namely:   What the client can do to look after their skin in between their treatments?

Well here are our top 4 tips to help keep your skin in tip top condition:

iS Clinical's SPF 50 - to be used ALL YEAR ROUND!

iS Clinical’s SPF 50 – to be used ALL YEAR ROUND!

1.  Always use a good sunscreen of at least a Sun Protection Factor of 30.  We recommend iS Clinical’s Factor 50 to protect your skin from the damaging rays of the sun.  This great SPF also doubles as your moisturiser, it protects and hydrates.

2.  Drink Plenty of water at least 6 glasses a day – keeping hydrated keeps the skin soft and wrinkle free!

Vitamin C and E also provide UV protection, which is a great ‘belt and braces’ approach beneath your SPF

Super Serum3.  Use good serums that contain Vitamin C and E to nourish and feed the skin to keep it healthy.  We love the iS Clinical range, especially Super Serum Advance which contains powerful antioxidants to renew and absorb into the skin so that it remains healthy.  The Vitamins also provide UV protection, which is a great ‘belt and braces’ approach beneath your SPF, giving even more protection against the elements.

4. Exercise regularly, whether it is a visit to the gym, a run in the park , walking the dogs or possibly a dance class such as Jazzercise.  Whatever you do to keep fit, do something regularly.  Exercise should be fun and part of our everyday lives.  We need to keep our bones healthy and our bodies moving.

If you would like to find out more about how the MBNS nurses can help you look after your skin, kindly call us on 01844 213007 or fill out the form HERE and we will get back to you straight away.

We look forward to helping you look your natural best.
