Prescribing of medicines at MBNS and Qutis Clinics

Marea Brennan Thorns RN, NIP, MscRecently on the BBC London Evening News there was an investigation into the outlawed practice of remote prescribing of toxins for injection purposes.

Put in to layman’s terms, the news story featured the  case of a doctor from Harley Street discussing the writing of prescriptions for a Botulinum Toxin (BOTOX®) treatment without actually seeing the patient, this was done via the internet (Skype) or phone call.  This is an illegal practice and so we at MBNS/Qutis clinics want our valued patients to know how we run our clinic practice ethically.  We always hold face to face prescription consultations by our own qualified nurse prescribers of which we have two:  namely Marea Brennan Thorns, RN, NIP  MSc and Adrian Baker, RN, NIP.

In previous years before our nurses obtained their prescribing qualifications, we had a visiting GP and a Consultant Plastic Surgeon to carry out our medical assessment and patient suitability to receive Botulinum Toxin treatment.

We want all to be aware that we at MBNS and Qutis clinics do our utmost to provide all our patients with professional, safe, confidential and legal treatment, and will always strive to aim higher in our level of service to you.

Only 2% of nurses in this country hold the Independent Nurse Prescribing qualification, and nurses Adrian & Marea studied very hard, whilst working and managing their families to gain this university level accreditation.

And so we would like to advise that anyone seeking a cosmetic treatment such as botulinum toxin(BOTOX®) should meet the prescribing practitioner (doctor, dentist, nurse prescriber) face to face at their first treatment visit.

To book a prescription appointment with one of our independent nurse prescribers please call 01844 213007
