Operation Smile here we come!
We nurses at MBNS recently completed the Resuscitation Council’s Paediatric Immediate Life Support Course
We did this as we are hoping to be accepted as volunteer nurses for ‘Operation Smile’ (they provide free surgery to repair cleft lip & palette for children around the globe). The course was realistic and packed full with collapse and resuscitation practical scenarios. Thankfully we all passed and felt much more confident about managing a collapsed child. We also reflected that although we only treat adults at MBNS, often children and babies accompany their parents on treatment visits. Happily we are now certificated and would cope if ever such an event happened (and we hope it won’t, we hasten to add!) High five MBNS nurses!

Thread Veins BEFORE Sclerotherapy Treatment
Thread Veins AFTER Sclerotherapy treatment
Are you ready to show some leg? The rain and the floods are hopefully mainly behind us and the promise of sunshine and warmth is hopefully just around the corner. That means that soon we will get to wear all our lovely summer clothes – shorter dresses, skirts, shorts and swimwear. Unfortunately if you have any thread veins on your legs, it stops you from wearing just what you want to.
So now is the perfect time to have your thread veins treated with Sclerotherapy!
At MBNS we use sclerotherapy to treat these veins. Sclerotherapy has been used for forty years and is still the gold standard treatment for thread veins, is relatively painless and highly effective.
In layman’s terms, sclerotherapy occurs when one of our nurse specialists injects spider veins with a chemical that causes the affected veins to swell before sealing shut. Clients who choose sclerotherapy require no surgery in order to remove these spider veins, which is why this method is so popular.
Sclerotherapy takes only minutes and the vast majority of clients who undergo the procedure experience very few side effects. Also, most clients are able to return to their daily lives within a matter of hours after receiving sclerotherapy.
I had mine treated 8 years ago and even with the menopause, they are still great.
If you would like to discuss Sclerotherapy or any other of the treatments offered at MBNS, such as dermal fillers, wrinkle treatments and permanent hair removal kindly call us on 01844 213007 or fill out the form HERE and we will get back to you swiftly.

Pregnancy skin care advice:
As a lot of women find during pregnancy, what with hormonal changes and various other stresses, my skin is really suffering! In my case, my face has come out in severe dry patches which coupled with the cold weather have become very sore and tight.
Having been a religious user of the iS Clinical range for the last 3 years, I had a chat with one of our nurses Adrian Baker to find out how I could adapt my daily skin regime in order to give my pregnancy skin a boost. We decided that I needed something to soothe, some hydration and finally something to create a protective barrier against the elements.
The morning regime he suggested consisted of Pro Heal Serum which would have a calming effect on the sore patches, followed by Youth Complex which would intensively hydrate my skin and promote controlled exfoliation to help me shed the flakiness, and finally the SPF 25 Treatment Sunscreen which would not only create a protective seal but would also supplement the hydration and soothe any inflamation caused by the sore, dry patches. In the evening I would follow the exact same regime only instead of Youth Complex I would use Hydra Cool Serum which is an intense hydrator.
I gave this a go, and after only three days I couldn’t believe how much better my skin looked and felt. I have now been following this regime for three weeks and my skin has never been better! I can now go on enjoying my pregnancy, not only embracing my new bump but also my new skin!

I have been wearing Bare Minerals for 2 years now and I have never been so pleased with a foundation. The make-up is 100% natural, it doesn’t clog my pores or make me feel (or look) like I’m wearing a mask. I love the coverage I get without the feeling of wearing anything – my face continues to feel fresh and clean all day, in fact Bare Minerals is so natural and healthy for my skin that I can sleep in it.
I should also mention one of my other best kept beauty secrets – Lycogel Concealer. Lycogel is a breathable camouflage make-up that has a weightless, natural finish. It is waterproof, which makes it perfect for my beach and skiing holidays, it’s also ‘transfer resistant’ which means it doesn’t rub off on my clothes – ever! Lycogel is the best concealer I’ve ever used; it’s perfect for hiding my dark under eye circles and the ‘occasional’ spot.

“Just back from a week in the Alps. Gosh I had forgotten how the high altitude climate dries the facial skin…I came back with eyebrow dandruff! And even though we did not see much sun, I can see an increase in my facial pigment and open pores. So I have booked myself in for IPL skin rejuvenation and some hydrating fire and ice facials…watch this space, I will post before and after photos on my next blog in March.

Your health and your safety at MBNS!
The nursing specialist team at MBNS know we can offer you, our patient, the best of treatment options in the safest of environments with the highest educated nurses, keeping your safety at the forefront of everything we do! Read on!
No sleepy start to 2012 for us! The year has started as we mean to go on, and that’s BUSY!
The media are reporting on adverse events with breast implants, which always brings focus on all cosmetic procedures, surgical or not. Any press is good press as it gives us an opportunity to educate and advise our patients to the best treatment for them. We pride ourselves in investing in time to further educate within the aesthetic nursing field.
My first professional meeting was held by the British Association of Cosmetic Nurses, (BACN) with a tough subject of managing complications. Now you, the patient, can be assured of the most up to date knowledge within the MBNS nurse team in prevention of such, and in the event of any concern, the best of care at all times.
I was honoured to be presenting at this meeting alongside the highest calibre of well respected aesthetic doctors, nurses, and university lecturers! This was my first public speaking event, so on every level it was a challenge. I had a great response from the one hundred and ten professional audience with plenty of in depth sharing throughout the day.

Like many, I knew nothing about skin rejuvenation and protecting my skin in my younger days – Tanning oil springs to mind! Only for the past 3 years have I learnt the importance of wearing a good quality medical sunscreen, such as the IS Clinical SPF 25. I now wear this daily no matter rain or shine. Those rays can still get you, you know.
Unfortunately, as result of my poor skin health in my early twenties, I am now suffering with sun damaged skin, with uneven pigmentation and broken blood vessels. After talking with the nurses at MBNS, I was introduced to a technologically advanced light treatment called skin rejuvenation. Straight after treatment the pigmentation had gone darker, and within 2 weeks, the pigmentation literally peeled away leaving clear skin. I have now had 2 treatments and all my patients have noticed how fresh and clear my skin looks. I can’t wait for my next treatment, when I can finally give the boot to sun damage!
